Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested on the club’s official website that Thiago could start against Manchester United this weekend.

The Reds will take on United at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Thiago suffered a knee injury back in October, and the 2020 summer signing from Bayern Munich has been able to make just five appearances for Liverpool.

The 29-year-old central midfielder has yet to play at Anfield for Liverpool, and Klopp has suggested that now that the Spain international is fully fit and available, he could make his home debut.

Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Thiago: “We will see. The most important thing is he’s fit, trained, all good.

“He had now 90 and 45 minutes in the last two games. So, we will see if he can play, which position he will play because there are obviously different options and all that stuff.

“But it’s really good to have him around now because he’s a really good guy and obviously an exceptional football player. It’s like a new signing obviously. Now he’s here and let’s hope that it will stay like this for a long, long, long time.”

Big boost for Liverpool

Thiago is one of the best players in the world and has already impressed followers of the Premier League.

The Spain international could play a massive role for the Reds in their quest to beat league leaders United on Sunday.

Thiago’s ability to impose himself in the middle of the park, drive the team forward, read the game and make quick decisions would be huge for Liverpool.

It will be interesting to see who between Thiago and United’s Bruno Fernandes comes out on top this weekend.
