Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Diogo Jota will get playing time on a regular basis as the season progresses, as quoted in The Liverpool Echo.
Klopp has said that it is not possible for the Liverpool front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to play all the time.
Jota joined the defending Premier League champions from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2020.
The 23-year-old Portugal international winger has already made an instant impact at Liverpool, scoring four goals each in the Premier League and the Champions League, according to WhoScored.
The Liverpool Echo quotes Klopp as saying about Jota: “He has settled in nicely. Very important for us. We cannot play our usual front three all the time all season. It’s difficult to improve things but Diogo looks like he can. I am really happy about that.”
Encouraging for Diogo Jota
Klopp’s aforementioned comments are very encouraging for Jota, as they suggest that the 23-year-old will play more in the coming weeks and months.
The winger is playing well at the moment, scoring goals as a starter as well as making an impact coming off the substitutes’ bench.
True, Mane, Salah and Firmino all are world-class footballers, but they cannot play all the time, and refreshing the front-three and throwing in Jota would also make Liverpool more unpredictable for the opposition.
