Jürgen Klopp has shared some ‘good’ news regarding Virgil van Dijk following Liverpool’s 0-0 draw against Newcastle last night.
The Reds drew their sixth Premier League game of the season against the Magpies, who frustrated them hugely at St James’ Park.
After full-time, The Athletic’s James Pearce shared some quotes from the German regarding the injured Netherlands international.
You can see the latest on Van Dijk’s injury below.
Liverpool didn’t really miss the Dutchman from a defensive aspect against Steve Bruce’s side, as Nat Phillips and Fabinho kept a clean sheet.
However, what the Reds do arguably miss about Van Dijk is his ability to spray the ball quickly and accurately to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
It is a trait that Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta labelled as ‘quality’ after Liverpool’s 3-1 win over the Gunners earlier this season.

What that does for Klopp’s side is huge. It helps get them on the counter-attack quicker, taking the opposition by surprise in the process.
Obviously, Liverpool are still a good team without the ex-Celtic man as they sit atop the Premier League.
However, they’ve lost a seriously big part of their gameplan as a result of Van Dijk’s injury.

After the stalemate on Tyneside, Liverpool now sit just three points above Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.
The two great rivals face each other on January 17th at Anfield, in what should be a significant game in the title race.
