Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp has delivered an injury update on both Andy Robertson and Jordan Henderson.

Robertson and Henderson are undoubtedly two of the Reds’ most important players and ahead of the Merseyside club’s game against Arsenal they both suffered injury scares.

Robertson came off for Scotland with a hamstring problem while Henderson picked up what Klopp describes as a more serious injury for England.

What’s been said?

Luckily, Klopp says that Robertson is likely to be able to play against Arsenal.

“Robbo was lucky, we can probably say. It was a little bit DOMS, the intensity of all the games he played probably, rather than anything else,” Klopp said.

“He was smart enough to [make] the right decision, he went off early, which he usually is not doing. But in this case it was absolutely right, and so there’s a good chance that he can be involved at the weekend.

Klopp also gave a positive update on Jordan Henderson after his fitness scare:

“Hendo, a little bit more [injured] than Robbo but a chance for the weekend. So we are working on that. It’s not a serious injury but in this short period of time we have to see if he is ready for Saturday. But after that, 100 per cent, and possibly for Arsenal as well.”

Boost

This is great news for Liverpool ahead of what is sure to be a tough game against Arsenal.

Robertson is a vitally important player for the Reds, while Henderson is of course their captain.

Kostas Tsimikas would have been a fine replacement for the Scot, while Klopp would have had plenty of midfielders to call upon to replace Henderson, but against a team like Arsenal, you always want to have your best players available.
