Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers are getting closer to Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic, says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp has also said that Liverpool legend Gerrard has made a brilliant start as manager of Rangers.
“He made a brilliant start at Ibrox – then he lost against Celtic,” Klopp told The Daily Record about Gerrard. “Wow, what a surprise!
“Celtic are the top team in the league but it’s not like they were 50 or 60 per cent better than Rangers – like they have been in the last few years.
“Rangers are getting closer and that’s the only way to get them one day. That’s Steven’s job but so far it’s more than good.”
Good start
Rangers have made a good start to the season under manager Gerrard, who was appointed in the role at Ibrox in the summer.
The Gers have progressed to the group stage of the Europa League this season, and that is certainly a massive success.
True, Rangers lost to Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership last weekend, but the Gers are very much in the race for the league title.

What Rangers need to do is put together a run of positive results in the Scottish Premiership after the international break and pile the pressure on Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.
Celtic are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with nine points from four matches, while Rangers are seventh in the standings with five points from four games.
