Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur let one of their ‘incredible talents’ go when they sold Christian Eriksen.
In Klopp’s very first game in charge at Liverpool he took on Tottenham, who he will meet again tomorrow evening.
At his latest press conference, which was broadcast on Liverpool’s official website, it was put to Klopp that Tottenham still had nine players at the club from that day, while Liverpool only had two.
And Klopp was keen to heap praise on the players that Tottenham had at that time.
Intriguingly every single one of the players that the Liverpool boss hailed were still at Spurs, apart from Eriksen – who was sold by the club to Inter Milan last January.
“When I arrived Spurs had the most talented squad, they had incredibly talented players and very young,” he said.
“Lloris was maybe not a kid any more, but at the best age for a goalkeeper. They had Harry Kane, Eriksen, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Lamela, Davies, Alderweireld.
“They were all really young at that time and already really good.

“It was just a matter of time before they became really successful and they were really successful.
“When I arrived here we had a different squad of a different age group, so we had to change things.”
Interestingly, there have been suggestions that Eriksen could actually return to Tottenham this month.
The Guardian claim that Spurs are looking into the possibility of bringing Eriksen back to North London, if Dele Alli leaves.
However, that deal may have become more difficult as Inter boss Antonio Conte said that he wanted to keep the Dane, after he scored a free-kick in the Milan derby last night.
