Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Jordan Henderson’s fitness after his appearance against Arsenal at the weekend.

Henderson had picked up an injury while on international duty with England, and he wasn’t fit enough to start against Arsenal over the weekend.

However, with Liverpool in cruise control against the Gunners on Saturday night, Henderson came off the bench for the last 15 minutes.

The England international put in a composed performance, but despite playing 15 minutes of Premier League football, Klopp says he’s still not 100 per cent.

What’s been said about Henderson’s fitness?

The Liverpool manager was asked about Henderson’s fitness after his appearance against Arsenal.

“With Hendo, we will see, yesterday I would say he wasn’t 100%, he could play and do pretty much everything, but it’s about being 100% fit. When he came on against Arsenal it was just to see the game out and control it a little bit. It was exactly what he needed from a rehab point of view, but we will see. I don’t know 100 per cent.”

Getting there

It sounds as though Henderson isn’t quite fit enough to play a full 90 against Porto, but he’s certainly getting there.

The midfielder is slowly but surely getting back to full fitness and Klopp says that he can do pretty much everything in training.

Liverpool have had something of a midfield injury crisis in recent weeks, but it seems as though they are now getting back to full strength.

Fingers crossed Henderson is ready to start against Southampton this weekend in the Premier League.
