Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told BBC Sport that James Milner was “exceptional” against Leicester City at Anfield last night.
Milner played at right-back for Liverpool in their 3-0 win against Leicester at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.
The former Leeds United and Newcastle United star had a brilliant game, as he defended well and contributed in attack.
Klopp was impressed by the display produced by Milner and has raved about him.
The German told BBC Sport: “We scored three goals and didn’t concede one, we defended exceptionally well, controlled the game, there were a lot of good things, I can’t pick one that pleased me most – maybe the performance of James Milner at right back. He played an exceptional game, first there and then in midfield.”
James Milner was brilliant for Liverpool
The match against Leicester saw Milner make his first start in the Premier League this season, and the Englishman was brilliant.
According to WhoScored, the 34-year-old took one shot, played five key passes, had a pass accuracy of 85.1%, won one header, took 103 touches, made two tackles, one interception and one clearance, and put in nine crosses.
The former Aston Villa star may not be guaranteed a place in the Liverpool starting lineup, but he is always there when called upon and is a very reliable figure.
If Liverpool are to win the Premier League title again this season, then Milner will play a big role.
