Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp has been full of praise for Virgil van Dijk, claiming that he looks really good in training.
Of course, van Dijk hasn’t played any football for the Reds since last October when he picked up a serious injury playing against Everton that has kept him out for almost a year.
However, the long road to recovery seems to be coming to an end, and Klopp says that van Dijk could even play a few minutes in their next pre-season friendly after showing his class in training.
What’s been said?
Klopp was speaking about van Dijk’s return.
“I hope, I am not sure, that there is the opportunity that Virgil could play a few minutes,” Klopp said.
“He looks really good in training and maybe we can bring [him in], but I need to have some final conversations. He looks ready and we will see.”
“If you see the games now as part of their rehab training, that makes sense.”

Great news
It’s fantastic to hear that van Dijk has been looking good in training.
After so long out, there were bound to be worries as to whether or not he’d be able to return to his best, but it sounds as though he may rediscover his best form rather quickly.
Van Dijk is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League, and despite a long-term injury, it sounds as though his standards haven’t dropped at all.
Fingers crossed the Dutchman can get back to full fitness in time for the Reds’ first game of the season against Norwich.
