The Serbian winger will be allowed to leave the club this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has made it clear that Lazar Markovic is free to leave Liverpool this summer.

The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour in recent years, and the club will actively try to sell the Serbian winger.

Markovic joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2014 for £20 million, reported by BBC, with the tag of being one of the most promising young players in Europe at that time.

However, he has failed to live up to the potential, and spent the last two seasons out on loan at Fenerbahce, Sporting and Hull City.

Klopp has praised Markovic as a “good player” but says it is “no secret” that he needs to find a club away from Anfield this summer.

“With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate. It was like this last year too,” Klopp told Liverpool Echo.

“He’s a really good player. I like him as a person. He’s now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I’ve known him.

“Before he had problems with his groin but now he’s good. There will be a club out there who needs him.”

Markovic impressed on loan with Hull City last season, and therefore it shouldn’t be a problem for him to find a new club.

Watford have shown an interest in signing him, reported by The Sun, with Marco Silva, his previous manager at Hull City, keen to sign him.

Liverpool were initially hopeful of recouping the £20 million spent on him, but with very few clubs registering interest, his price has dropped to just £12 million.
