Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp has been discussing the ongoing situation with the Brazilian internationals at the club.
Reports emerged this week claiming that the Brazilian players who weren’t released for international duty over the past fortnight will face a five-day ban imposed by FIFA, and while those reports have come from reputable sources, we’ve not had any official word on that matter.
For Liverpool, this would of course affect the likes of Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, but perhaps most importantly, Alisson Becker.
Indeed, the 28-year-old is Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper, and Klopp doesn’t know whether or not he’ll be able to play or not.
What’s been said?
“I can say what I know: I don’t know in the moment. We will see, there are meetings going on,” Klopp said.
The manager then gave his view on the situation before concluding.
“But in the end the only [people] who get punished are the players and the clubs – and we have nothing to do with the whole organisation around. It’s like, ‘What is happening?’
“So I don’t know what will happen at the weekend, to be honest. In this moment, we have to see what other people decide and then we will again accept that probably, do what people tell us and try to win a football game.
“But the whole situation is really just like the whole world in the moment in a nutshell – ‘Ah, in football they have these problems as well.’ Yes, we have these problems. And now we will see who finds the solution.”

Shambles
Liverpool head to Elland Road in two days’ time, and Klopp still doesn’t know whether or not his key players will be available.
Alisson, in particular, is one of the Reds’ most important stars, and Klopp needs to know about his availability sharpish.
The 28-year-old’s situation is very much up in the air, and as Klopp says, there are meetings happening to decide what should happen.
This whole debacle has certainly been a bit of a farce.
