Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Fabinho will not play against Leicester City this weekend, as quoted in The Liverpool Echo.
The Reds will take on Leicester away from home at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Klopp has said that Fabinho, who is a defensive midfielder by trade but has been playing in defence this season, has another muscle issue and will not play.
The Liverpool Echo has quoted Klopp as saying: “Fabinho will not be available – he suffered a little muscle injury.”
Bad news for Liverpool
Fabinho has been superb for Liverpool in defence, and although the defending Premier League champions signed Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak on transfer deadline day, the Brazil international’s importance in the team cannot be undermined.
The Brazilian could have played in defence or in midfield against Leicester, who are challenging for the Premier League title this season.
With Liverpool playing RB Leipzig in the Champions League next Tuesday, the Reds’ fans will hope that Fabinho recovers full fitness by then.
According to WhoScored, Fabinho has made 17 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League and has made four starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for Liverpool so far this season.
