Well, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about Alexis Mac Allister.
Klopp has been hugely impressed by how well Mac Allister has been playing for his Liverpool team and has noted his attributes.
The 25-year-old joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2023. The Reds paid £35 million in transfer fees for the midfielder (The Guardian).
Mac Allister has been one of the best and most consistent players for Liverpool this season.
The midfielder, who won the 2022 Qatar World Cup with Argentina, has made 16 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Reds this season. He has scored one goal and given one assist in those games.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Mac Allister’s performances: “Very. I’m over the moon about it. There are so many things I said about Portuguese players, I could say the… I’m not sure on all Argentinian players, I don’t know that many, but Macca is the same in midfield, just like a football doctor, I don’t know.
“Wonderful story with the dad and the uncle and the cousins and the brothers and they are all footballers and they analyse games already as kids. The dad asks, ‘What did you see in the game?’ I could not thank his father enough for that knowledge and education.
“Playing the position the way he plays is very special. Very, very special. [He is] super-aggressive, super-smart and his contribution for all our play in possession is extremely important.”
My View: Alexis Mac Allister will get better
In my opinion, Alexis Mac Allister will get better in the coming years for Liverpool. He is 25 now and has his best years ahead of him.
While Mac Allister is not a very flashy footballer, he is combative in the middle of the pitch and can hold his own. He has been very impressed this season.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has deployed Mac Allister as a centre midfielder, but the Argentine has also been used out left on a couple of occasions.
The Reds are aiming to win the Premier League title this Eason. Liverpool are also in the running for the UEFA Europa League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
I believe that Mac Allister will play a massive role for Liverpool in all competitions this season.
