Jurgen Klopp is quoted by Sky Sports stating that he has accepted the praise that was bestowed upon him by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson admitted earlier this week that Liverpool will be contenders for this season’s Premier League title, as the Merseyside club hope to win their first domestic title for the first time since 1990, along with restoring their famous ‘identity’ and ‘enthusiasm.’

Klopp was asked in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s away fixture to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening, whether he had heard of the Scot’s praise.

The German manager is quoted Sky Sports saying: “Is it allowed for me to say I like Alex Ferguson? I met him before I was Liverpool manager. It’s nice for him to say something positive.

“Maybe we had to change the minds of fans about the past, but while I don’t know too much about enthusiasm I feel there is a positive atmosphere in and around Melwood at the moment.

“That’s good. It’s not cool when you always think about football that you’re 20 per cent more upset, you should be feeling better. That’s our job to do. Until now it’s worked somehow. It’s really, really intense even when football isn’t the most important thing.”

Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League table after a strong start to the season, only behind Manchester City and Arsenal on goal difference, with all three sides on 20 points from a possible 27.

Former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke face’s a visit from his old team-mates, who will no doubt hope to go top of the table come Saturday night.
