Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told Leeds Live that he thinks Leeds United are ‘special’ having gone toe-to-toe with Liverpool last night.
The Whites headed to Anfield on Saturday evening for their first game back in the Premier League since 2004, and what a game it was.
Mohamed Salah’s penalty put Liverpool into an early lead, but Jack Harrison’s stunning equaliser brought Leeds level.
Virgil van Dijk restored Liverpool’s lead, only to gift Patrick Bamford a leveller, and even though Salah put the Reds back in front, Mateusz Klich fired Leeds level again in the second half.
A second Salah penalty completed his hat-trick and sealed a 4-3 win for Liverpool, as Leeds couldn’t muster another fightback.
Leeds were simply outstanding and really made Liverpool sweat, and whilst they went home empty-handed, they deserve all the praise coming their way.

Now, Liverpool boss Klopp has branded Leeds ‘special’, admitting that it was ‘difficult’ to play against Leeds because of the way they challenge you for 95 minutes.
Klopp added that it’s ‘uncomfortable’ to play against Leeds as they ‘just don’t stop’ – and the chief mastermind behind gegenpressing unsurprisingly loves that.
“We knew it would be difficult before the game,” said Klopp. “Leeds are special. I said it before the game. Really happy with what we did with the ball. It was difficult to play against them with the ball. The way they defend, the way they challenge, for 95 minutes too! I said before the game, we would always struggle against them. It’s uncomfortable. They just don’t stop. I like it,” he added.
