Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has praised Kostas Tsimikas after registering two assists in Sunday’s win over Brentford.

Jurgen Klopp claims he noticed a big different in Kostas Tsimikas after registering his first assist as Liverpool beat Brentford.

The Reds were looking for a big response after a tricky week.

A disappointing display at Luton Town resulted in a 1-1 draw before Liverpool lost away at Toulouse in the Europa League.

Liverpool delivered on Sunday though as two Mohamed Salah goals and a Diogo Jota strike handed Liverpool a comfortable 3-0 victory over Brentford.

Salah will naturally claim the plaudits but left back Tsimikas was vital with two assists.

The Greek left back crossed for Salah to head in his second before then setting up Jota for number three.

This was a great example of the attacking thrust Tsimikas can provide and Klopp loved what he saw.

Klopp has told Liverpool’s official website that he noticed a big difference in Tsimikas after registering that first assist.

Klopp feels that Tsimikas really gained confidence after that moment and helped contribute to a ‘top level’ team display for the Reds.

“Kostas Tsimikas, [for] example, we all could see the difference between Kosti before the assist and after the assist,” said Klopp. “That’s football and that’s life. It’s helpful if you get positive feedback and an assist is obviously positive feedback. So, very important, and a lot of players, actually all players really, performed on a top level today and I’m really happy with that,” he added.

Tsimikas needed this boost

Tsimikas is in the starting lineup at the moment because Andrew Robertson is out of action with a shoulder injury.

The Scot may not be back until early 2023, meaning Tsimikas is filling in for the foreseeable future.

We know that Tsimikas can attack well, but his defending sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.

Tsimikas committed one big error against Toulouse on Thursday, which appeared to damage his confidence.

Adding two assists against Brentford should now give Tsimikas a timely boost, especially with Premier League champions Manchester City coming up next.
