Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold on his side’s official website.

Alexander-Arnold is now on the verge of making his 100th appearance for Liverpool, and he has quickly become recognised as one of the finest right-backs in the country.

With Liverpool set to name a youthful line-up in the League Cup this evening against Arsenal, it brought Klopp back to a time when Alexander-Arnold was trying to forge a career for himself at Anfield.

It was only a few years ago that Alexander-Arnold was fighting for minutes in the League Cup.

And Klopp feels that the 21-year-old’s youngster’s progress should show the rest of his Liverpool teammates what can be achieved at the club with a good mentality.

“This month three years ago he made his first-team debut. Against Tottenham at the weekend he made his 99th appearance for the senior side,” Klopp said of the right-back.

“The reason he has achieved this in such a short space of time, one of the four youngest in LFC history I believe, isn’t just because he has amazing ability. It is because of how he has handled himself, taken his chances and dealt with setbacks and difficulties.”

Alexander-Arnold now is tasked with being one of Liverpool’s most creative players, with his crossing one of his major assets.

The England international regularly sets up chances for Liverpool’s dangerous attackers, and he can be very difficult to stop.

It seems likely that Alexander-Arnold will be given a watching brief this evening, as Liverpool look to progress to the next round of the League Cup with many of their youngsters in their starting line-up.
