The Liverpool ace was in fine form against Porto last night.

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp spoke to reporters after his side’s 2-0 Champions League win over Porto last night, and raved about Jordan Henderson’s display, labelling the midfielder as a ‘brilliant player’, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

The 28-year-old has received plenty of criticism from Reds fans this season, but he seems to have found a whole new level entirely in recent weeks, having been deployed in a more advanced position by Klopp.

Henderson was at his best for Liverpool last night, and was a constant driving force behind what turned out to be a comfortable 2-0 win for his team.

And Klopp was effusive in his praise for the Reds skipper, when speaking to reporters after last night night’s win over the Portuguese outfit, suggesting that has enjoyed being deployed in a more attacking role recently, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:

“Hendo’s a brilliant player, I’m really happy that he can show that again. He likes the position obviously. It was my fault that for one-and-a-half years he played as a number six. Sorry for that! But we needed him there. It was a really good performance. The second goal was brilliant, but he had the cross for Sadio’s ‘goal’ (disallowed) as well. It was a brilliant cross. I like that.”

Next up for Liverpool is a huge clash with Chelsea on Sunday, before they travel to Portugal for the second-leg of their Champions League tie next Wednesday.

And Henderson will be hoping to be given the opportunity to impress again in both games, where the outcomes will surely end up defining the Reds’ season.
