Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted to the Liverpool Echo that Mo Salah is playing through the pain for his side right now.

Salah had to come off in the latter stages of Liverpool’s match against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

The Egyptian had scored from the penalty spot to put Liverpool in front, but was unable to see out the 90 minutes due to a persistent ankle issue.

Klopp has confirmed that Salah’s injury is not severe, which is a big relief for Liverpool fans.

But the German boss does admit that Salah is having to play through the pain barrier currently.

“It’s not serious,” said the Reds boss. “It’s the ankle, the one he has struggled since the Leicester game.

“It’s good but the longer the game goes, the more he gets tired and he could get a knock on it and he feels it more.

“It makes no sense to try to push it through. We have other players and we had options to change it and we did.

“Nothing serious. It’s not a massive, that will disappear one day, but it’s still a bit there at the moment.”

Salah goal for Liverpool yesterday turned out to be the winner, as the Reds ran out 2-1 winners over Spurs.

Liverpool dominated for large portions of the match, but they had to stay patient after falling behind early on.

Klopp’s side ultimately deserved the three points, as they resisted the urge to get frustrated against a Tottenham side who kept a huge amount of players behind the ball.

Liverpool’s victory over Spurs ensured that they maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League table, and kept up their unbeaten record in domestic matches this campaign.
