The Liverpool striker is working hard to get back to full fitness and his manager is keen to reward it.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has promised he will reward Danny Ings with a first team place once the situation is right to do so, speaking to the club’s official website.

The striker was a big hit at Anfield in the early parts of last season after making a move from Burnley in the summer transfer window.

His campaign was cut cruelly short as he picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee is Jurgen Klopp’s first training session at the club.

He has since been working back to full fitness and featured for limited minutes at the end of last season.

He is yet to make a senior appearance this year but Klopp has promised he will pay him back for his hard work when the situation is right.

“Danny is working hard and good, but the situation is like it is – we have a lot of strikers,” he told the club’s official website.

“He is a wonderful boy. It’s not the easiest thing when a player works really hard and then he is not involved, so, of course, you want to give the player something back. As soon as it is possible, I will pay back.”

On recent form, Ings will certainly have to wait until he gets his chance in this Liverpool team in the league, but could hope to feature against Derby in the EFL Cup this evening.

The Reds have been in fine goalscoring form so far with 11 goals in their first five Premier League games.

Six of those have come from their forward three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho and Klopp will be loathed to change that winning formula anytime soon.
