Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool’s official website he is delighted that Ki-Jana Hoever has decided to sign a long-term deal.

The 17-year-old committed his future to the Reds last week.

It was the first professional deal of what looks to be a very exciting career for the young defender, who made his senior debut for Liverpool last season.

In fact, he is the third-youngest debutant in the history of the club and Klopp says that it’s ‘just crazy’ to consider how young he still is, given his talent.

He told Liverpool’s official website “Ki-Jana is a wonderful kid and a sensational young player who can learn so much.

“He’s still 17, it’s just crazy. But everything will be fine, he’s a fantastic footballer and I’m really happy that we have him for longer.”

The future looks very bright for Hoever, who will be desperate to add to his first-team experience this season.

He has no chance of playing regularly, given Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brilliance, but what a player to learn from.

Alexander-Arnold wasn’t that much older than Hoever when he broke into the senior side and became Klopp’s first-choice right-back so, despite being only 20 himself, the England international is undoubtedly well placed to help the teen on his way.
