Liverpool are currently sitting top of the Premier League table heading into the international break.

Jurgen Klopp has stated that he ‘clarified’ with Sadio Mane in the dressing room that the Liverpool forward was annoyed at his teammate Mo Salah and not at the fact that his manager substituted him during their 3-0 win at Burnley.

During that win at Turf Moor over the weekend, Mane expressed his anger as he was taken off because he was seemingly displeased that Mo Salah did not pass him the ball during a certain passage of the game.

Mane had to be calmed down by his Liverpool teammates as the Senegal international did find the back of the net during what was a comfortable three points for the Merseyside club.

Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League (31/08/2019 at 8:00 pm), Klopp completely understood Mane’s reaction to what happened at Turf Moor.

“Sadio is an emotional guy,” Klopp told Sky Sports PL. “It’s good. We are individuals and we are all like this and something didn’t go as he wanted.

It’s not the substitution! We clarified that [it was about the pass he didn’t receive] like we always do, in the dressing room, so that’s all we want to say about that.”

Last season, Mane and Salah were joint top-scorers in England’s top-flight and they will no doubt want to reclaim that crown once again this season.

They have started off the season in a strong fashion, and whilst the Reds will be battling to win the Premier League title, there’s no doubt that there’s competition within the squad, which is always a good thing if it doesn’t affect performances.

The international break will now kick in and upon Liverpool’s return, they will take on Steve Bruce’s Newcastle, who have started off the season in an indifferent manner.
