Jurgen Klopp has announced he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season, so what’s next for the outgoing manager?
The Reds have enjoyed nine successful years under the German coach, where he managed to transform them from trophy strangers into serial winners. A Premier League title and a Champions League trophy are perhaps the highlights of a period that cemented the Merseyside outfit as one of the best once again.
However, the shock announcement of Klopp’s exit in the summer leaves plenty of questions that are currently unanswered. While there is some discussion over the next manager in the Anfield dugout, keen eyes will also contemplate what is next for the current head coach.
With that said, HITC has taken a look at the possible options Klopp may look to take for his next step in management.
What has Jurgen Klopp said on his next job?
Jurgen Klopp has been coy on whether he will step back into management, but has revealed that he won’t manage any team in England other than Liverpool. Speaking to the official website, he said: “‘Will you ever work as a manager again?’ I would say now no.

“But I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation. What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent. That’s not possible. My love for this club, my respect for the people is too big. I couldn’t. I couldn’t for a second think about it. There’s no chance.”
Jurgen Klopp’s next job
So if it won’t be another club in England, where else could Jurgen Klopp manage if he decides to step back in after leaving Liverpool?
Bayern Munich
A return to Germany could be on the cards if Bayern Munich decide to move on from Thomas Tuchel in the summer. The serial Bundesliga champions are currently struggling under the former Chelsea coach, sitting second behind Bayer Leverkusen – currently managed by Liverpool-linked Xabi Alonso.
Whether that job will be available remains to be seen, while Klopp may also have reservations due to his past with Borussia Dortmund.

Real Madrid
One of the most high-profile jobs in football, Real Madrid continue to be linked with a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti. Should that position open once more, it could be a chance for Klopp to try his luck in Spain.
German national team
One link that doesn’t appear to leave Klopp is that of the German national team post, which could become available soon. His home nation will host the Euros in the summer, with Julian Nagelsmann only secured on a short-term deal.
That could open up the doors for Klopp to take the step into national team management, giving him a fresh view away from the club side of the game.

England national team
It seems unlikely, but given Klopp’s recent affinity for the English game, there could be room for a switch to the England national team. The Three Lions are in search of silverware and questions continue to arise over whether Gareth Southgate can be the man to land it for them.
That will be put to the test in the summer with the Euros, which could begin a shuffle in the managerial market.
