Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spoken highly of Rhys Williams to Sky Sports.
Klopp has said that the 19-year-old defender impressed him from the moment he first saw him train.
The German told Sky Sports: “Rhys Williams? From the moment he trained with us, I could see he was a proper talent.”
Emerging talent
Williams is an emerging central defender who has already shown what he is capable of.
Although the teenager has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, he has done extremely well in the Champions League.
The 19-year-old has made three starts and three substitute appearances the Champions League and has played twice in the EFL Cup for the defending Premier League champions so far this season, according to WhoScored.
With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez long-term injury absentees, the defender will get more chances in the coming weeks and months.
Going strong
Despite the injury problems, Liverpool are going strong, with the club’s academy graduates stepping up.
The likes of Nathaniel Phillips, Curtis Jones and Caoimhin Kelleher all have done well when they have played.
Liverpool will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London in the Premier League.
