Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told Yahoo Sport that Tottenham Hotspur will be ‘refreshed’ for Sunday’s game between the two sides – and joked that it’s just Liverpool’s luck to be facing them after a 5-0 win.

Klopp saw his Liverpool side pick up a big win on Wednesday night, beating Genk 4-1 in Belgium thanks to a brace from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and a goal apiece from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

It’s back to the Premier League on Sunday, as Liverpool face what could be a tricky game, with Tottenham heading to Anfield.

Spurs have endured a disappointing start to the season, and were lacklustre in their 1-1 draw against Watford last weekend, but got back on track on Tuesday night.

They hammered Crvena zvezda 5-0 in their Champions League game, with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane both bagging braces ahead of that big game at Liverpool.

Despite their huge result, few will be giving Tottenham a chance of picking up a result against the leaders, and Klopp has immediately looked ahead to the game.

Klopp suggested he doesn’t really know where his side are at right now, but knows they must be on top form on Sunday to face a ‘refreshed’ Tottenham side.

Klopp joked that ‘of course’ Tottenham are back on track just ahead of facing Liverpool, sarcastically suggesting it’s just their luck, but both teams will be facing tougher tasks than in their Champions League games this week.

“We’ve just had two away games that were both difficult for different reasons. I don’t know where we are now but I know where we need to be on Sunday,” said Klopp. “It’s a refreshed Tottenham. Of course, the second they meet us they’re back on track! But we’re a different team to Red Star Belgrade, just like Tottenham are different to Genk,” he added.
