Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that the club will look to use their youngsters rather than signing players in future, speaking to the Mirror.

The Reds were busy in the summer transfer window as six new players were brought into the squad.

There was a number of outgoings too as nine players left Anfield in an overhaul from Klopp.

Several of the departures were youngsters, as the likes of Jordon Ibe, Brad Smith and Joao Teixeira all left in search of regular first-team football.

Their departures came about largely because of the quality of players that were brought in.

However, Klopp has promised the club’s remaining youngsters that they will be given priority ahead of new signings in future.

“I can promise that before we sign a player who isn’t a lot better than what we already have we will always use our own boys,” he told the Mirror.

“That’s how the future should be, even in the crazy football transfer world. We want to be this special club.”

If Liverpool’s youngsters are to make the break through into the first-team, impressing for the youth sides will be where they must start.

So far they have done just that, currently sitting third in the under-23 table and three points behind league leaders Everton.

If they continue in that kind of form then it will not be surprising to see several making the step up into the first-team picture under Klopp in sooner rather than later.
