Phil McNulty has said that Jurgen Klopp had a fiery chat with Kostas Tsimikas and James Milner after Julian Alvarez equalised for Manchester City in their 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool.
The Reds defence fell asleep for the Argentine’s strike, with Andy Robertson left in no man’s land and Virgil van Dijk being typically passive to let Riyad Mahrez progress the ball further.
Jurgen Klopp was clearly incensed by the defending on show for the goal from Julian Alvarez as Manchester City went on to annihilate Liverpool.

The German boss was perhaps rightly up in arms as after the visitors took the lead through Mohamed Salah, their collapse was unsurprising, yet incredibly disappointing.
And it all began in the first half after some comical defending from the Reds, letting Alvarez prove his point by starting in the absence of the injured Erling Haaland.

“Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is, to say the least, frustrated by some aspects his team’s display. He called assistant Pep Lijnders for a very animated chat and then had a very lengthy conversation with substitute James Milner after Manchester City’s equaliser”, he said on BBC Sport.

Not just for the goal scored by Alvarez but the defending from Liverpool for every strike was simply not good enough, especially away from against a team like Manchester City.
The Sky Blues remain the Premier League’s top scorers and perhaps to this day, the most devastating team in Europe.
Yet, the away side, who tend to get up for these big games were unjustifiably passive and got torn to shreds in a game that may have dampened their top four hopes even further.
