Speaking to the Daily Star, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has urged Daniel Sturridge to remember that the world’s best strikers all go through goal droughts.
The striker has once again found himself on the bench as Klopp has gone with Roberto Firmino as his central striker.
He started the Monday night clash with Manchester United but was in disappointing form as he and his side were frustrated by Jose Mourinho’s team.
He has now gone without a league goal since April when he found the back of the net against Newcastle United.

It is a dark spell for him but Klopp has urged the striker to remember that the world’s best forwards all suffer in a similar way.
“He [Sturridge] is doing what all players have to do in the moments like this when it doesn’t quite go for you and that is keeping working,” he told the Daily Star.
“A big name… Lewandowski. There were times when he didn’t score. Gerd Muller, there were games he didn’t score.”
“If you are a striker, there will be good moments and then hard working moments. It is not easy. Daniel Sturridge is an outstanding player. There is no doubt about this.”

It remains to be seen if Sturridge can turn around his current poor run of form and try to get himself back into the team.
In truth, he has not been missed when he has not played this season, with the Reds currently the second highest goalscorers in the Premier League this season despite his drought.
Indeed they look a much better side without him in it and it will be interesting to see if his long-term future is at Anfield.
