The position is something of a problem area for the Reds at present.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp before the match
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool will not be signing a new left-back this summer.
The position has developed into something of a problem for the German, with Alberto Moreno continuing to struggle.
Indeed, his performances have been so poor that Klopp has taken to using James Milner in the position.

Many fans want to see a new, permanent signing made in the position with doubts over whether Milner is the long-term solution in the role.
However, Klopp appears to have rubbished any suggestions of a new player arriving in his latest comments.
“We’re going to need more players for different positions,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“The only decision we made is that Milly can play it, especially in the kind of play we think we should play. He still has to adapt and learn because he’s not had 500 games in this position but we will work on it.”

If a new left-back is not on Liverpool’s agenda in the remainder of the transfer window, then it will be interesting to see who they do target.
A new centre-back arriving would not be surprising given that their defence has looked shaky once again despite the signings of Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan.
A defensive midfielder could also be targeted with some suggestions that is another area they are lacking in, although Emre Can’s return may solve that particular issue.
