Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to the media about Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Brighton on Saturday.
The German was pressed for his opinion on Gareth Southgate’s refusal to use the £160,000-a-week man for England, and the 55-year-old seemingly had to bite his tongue.
Klopp admitted he would make “headlines” if he said what he really thought, while he also alluded to how Alexander-Arnold is feeling after being left out of the squad for the 3-3 draw against Germany entirely.
How Trent Alexander-Arnold returned to Liverpool
After another disappointing international break for the 23-year-old, Klopp suggested his No.66 was not in the best mood when returning to Merseyside – that doesn’t surprise us whatsoever.
As quoted by Sky Sports, the German said: “Trent came back not in a party mood, but he accepts the manager’s decision because he is extremely bright.”
Now, Klopp has a task on his hands to pick Alexander-Arnold’s head back up.

In truth, that was potentially already on the agenda for Klopp, as the right-back has not been at his best by any means this season.
Alexander-Arnold was run ragged by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as Liverpool suffered a 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League, while a number of goals have come down his side of the defence this term.
Interestingly, the Liverpool-born defender also hasn’t been himself going forward this season, failing to register a single assist in nine appearances.
Usually, that is his speciality, with 19 assists to his name in all competitions last term.
October is huge for Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool
Throughout October, Liverpool have eight games on the schedule, and Alexander-Arnold must perform well in each game if he wants to have any chance of playing at the World Cup in November.
As things stand, he is arguably fourth choice at international level behind Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Reece James, so it is down to him to turn his situation around.
Hopefully, Alexander-Arnold rediscovers his best form in October, and can go on to be a big player for England at the World Cup.
