Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has been discussing Joe Gomez after he went down with an injury against Southampton in midweek.
The defender went down with what appeared to be an ankle problem, and there were fears that his season would be over after coming off injured at St Mary’s.
However, according to Klopp, Gomez is feeling good and while the Reds are still awaiting some scan results, the German isn’t expecting Gomez to face an extended period on the sidelines.
What’s been said?
Klopp gave an update on Gomez.
“First of all, good news, yesterday we had one further scan, but after the game he and we thought after the game we were lucky. It was a proper knock, but nothing happened. It was the leg where he was injured, so I understand why everyone was concerned, I was until I saw Joe’s face in the dressing room where we know best about our body. The result of the scan is not here yet, but we don’t expect anything different,” Klopp said.

Contingency plan
The fact that Gomez is fit and available probably won’t affect Klopp’s team selection in the final two games. After all, he’s not a regular starter these days, but, it’s still great to hear that he’s not injured.
If there are further injuries to the likes of Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate or Trent Alexander-Arnold, Klopp can rest easy knowing that he has a player as talented as Gomez ready to fill-in for them.
Injuries derailed Liverpool’s campaign last time around, but it looks as though they’re heading into their final two matches with pretty much a clean bill of health.
