Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told The Guardian that he wants to keep his squad together, and has also praised eight young players at the club.

Klopp has said that he is “very confident” that he can keep all of his players beyond the summer.

The Liverpool boss has also named eight young players who can step up and be an important player of the team next season and beyond.

Neco Williams, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Ki-Jana Hoever, Sepp van den Berg, Yasser Larouci, Leighton Clarkson and Jake Cain are the young players Klopp rates highly.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has also suggested that the Reds will not be too busy in the summer transfer window.

Klopp told The Guardian: “I am very confident that we can keep the team together but all the rest of the planning is ongoing without knowing.

“We have no idea at the moment. Nobody knows how the future will be, which is very strange. I don’t know when the new season will start.”

The Liverpool boss added: “It’s just not likely that it will be the most busy summer in the world. But maybe at a later point in the year, if the transfer window is still open, we will know more.

“But this squad – just look at it. It is not a squad you have to change now and say: ‘OK, we need this position and this position.’ What we want is to create our transfers internally.

“So now, the first glimpses of Neco Williams. Bring the boys up. Curtis, Harvey, Ki-Jana [Hoever], Sepp [van den Berg], Yasser [Larouci], Leighton [Clarkson], Jake Cain: all these boys have done really well.”

Need for a new signing?

Liverpool have been head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in the Premier League this season and have one of the strongest squads in England.

However, not making a new signing this summer would be standing still, and with the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United likely to get stronger for the 2020-21 campaign, the Reds should be looking to make additions to the squad.
