The Athletic have reported that Liverpool manager Klopp wants Milner to stay at Anfield beyond the summer of 2023.
The former Leeds United and Newcastle United star is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season.
Klopp wants the 37-year-old to stay at Anfield for one more year, according to the report.
“Although Klopp is planning an overhaul of the midfield department, he values the vice-captain’s experience, leadership and versatility and wants him to sign another one-year extension,” reports The Athletic.
However, according to the report, Liverpool have yet to open talks with Milner over a new deal.

In our view, Liverpool should just let James Milner leave when his current contract runs out at the end of the season.
Yes, we know that former Aston Villa star is a versatile player who can operate as a full-back, winger or midfielder.
However, Milner is 37 now.
True, the Englishman is a leader, but Liverpool need to move on from him and find someone else who can do the job that Milner does.
There is no point in Liverpool keeping hold of a 37-year-old who earns £120,000 per week (SalarySport) if he is not going to play week in and week out and be an integral part of the first team.
