Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana are on the road to recovery after long-term injury problems.

Both Clyne and Lallana have not featured for the Reds this season so far, but Jurgen Klopp has delivered positive news on their return to fitness.

Lallana was expected to be out for two months after injuring himself in the Audi Cup clash against Atletico Madrid in Munich.

Klopp revealed that Clyne is “back running outside”, while Lallana is “close to going outside and run”.

“Clyney yesterday had the third or fourth run outside, not the highest intensity, but a big step. Coped well so far with this,” said Klopp, as quoted by The Liverpool Echo.

“Adam is close to going outside and run. He’s already on the altitude (training).”

The German has also confirmed that Danny Ings has returned to training, but he is likely to improve on his fitness by playing for Liverpool U23’s match against West Ham.

Dejan Lovren missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley due to a back injury, but Klopp has revealed that the Croatian should be fit to play Leicester in the EFL Cup.

“Dejan should be okay for tomorrow, we will see. If we can leave him out (of training) again today it’s pretty likely he’ll be ready for tomorrow, which would be good.”

In case Lovren fails to recover, Klopp can call upon Joe Gomez, who can play at centre-back or full-back. Klopp also hinted that Jon Flanagan could get a chance as well.

Liverpool will face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in the EFL Cup clash on Tuesday.
