Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko missed a gilt-edged chance against Liverpool yesterday.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted live on Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko inadvertently helped his side yesterday.

Sissoko missed a glorious opportunity in the closing stages, which could have put Tottenham in front at Anfield.

With the score locked at 1-1, Sissoko managed to work a shooting chance in the box, but he never looked comfortable, and blazed his attempt over the bar.

It was a terrible effort from the Frenchman and even Klopp admitted that his team were lucky that Sissoko wasted his chance.

The German boss said: “In the end, SIssoko is not under real pressure. He can finish it better. Virgil did his job, but in the end we needed Sissoko as well a little bit.”

Sissoko’s miss proved to be very costly for Spurs, as they slipped to a defeat in heartbreaking circumstances.

Tottenham should really have gone 2-1 up at Anfield, but they were made to pay for their profligacy in the final minutes.

Hugo Lloris spilled a Mohamed Salah header into Toby Alderweireld, and the ball crawled over the line to provide Liverpool with a vital three points in their title push.

Spurs are now under serious pressure, with their place in the top four looking precarious.
