Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has been linked with Lazio in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested to The Belfast Telegraph that Lucas Leiva may not travel with the squad to Asia this weekend.

As reported by The Belfast Telegraph, the Reds will fly out to Hong Kong for the Premier League Asia Trophy on Sunday.

It has been reported by Sky Sports that Lazio have agreed a fee of £5 million with Liverpool over the transfer of Leiva.

Liverpool manager Klopp has responded to the speculation over the future of the 30-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder.

When asked by The Belfast Telegraph whether Lucas would be travelling with the Liverpool squad at the weekend, Klopp said: “We will see.”

“I am not 100 per cent sure, but I think for Lucas, (who’s had an) outstanding, fantastic time at Liverpool, we should talk about facts and not rumours,” Klopp added. “Maybe something, maybe not.”

Lucas has been on the books of Liverpool since 2007 and remains an important part of the Merseyside outfit.

The Brazilian, though, could struggle for playing time at Anfield next season, and one would understand if he decides to leave for Lazio in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season and will be aiming to progress to the group stage of the 2017-18 Champions League campaign.
