Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told Sky Sports that he thought Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were ‘great’ against Manchester United.
The Reds hosted bitter rivals United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, in what was something of a top-of-the-table clash.
In the end though, the game finished 0-0 as neither side could find the net, with Liverpool once again struggling in the final third.
Liverpool have failed to score in their last three Premier League games, but have only conceded twice in their last four league outings.
Klopp is without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip right now, whilst Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams have shown inexperience and naivety.
That meant Klopp had to go with a couple of midfielders at centre back against Liverpool, as Henderson and Fabinho featured in the heart of defence.
The pair kept a clean sheet, albeit with some key saves from Alisson, and Klopp was full of praise for both players after the full-time whistle.
Klopp even suggested that playing two midfielders at the back was ‘probably better’ for Liverpool in terms of playing out from the back, and was really happy with how the Reds set up even without a recognised centre back.
“Great,” said Klopp. “In football, that’s probably better! The way we played in the first half was really flexible, and you have two midfielders in the last line, so that helps in football moments, so I’m really happy with how we did it,” he added.
