Liverpool have scored a number of goals already this season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has singled out Roberto Firmino’s opening goal in the 4-1 victory over Leicester City as his side’s best goal of the season thus far, The Telegraph report.

The Reds have scored an abundance of goals already this season, netting 18 league goals in eight matches while also finding the back of the net eight times in two EFL Cup matches.

Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson have netted superb individual goals, yet Klopp seemingly gets more satisfaction from team goals and especially when work out of possession is applied.

Talking to reporters, the German coach has singled out Firmino’s opening strike against Leicester as his side’s best so far and in particular praised fellow forward Daniel Sturridge for his movement off the ball.

“The [Roberto Firmino] goal against Leicester was the goal of the season so far because it was the kind of movement that we have been working so hard on,” Klopp told The Telegraph.

“Then you see it come off – especially from a striker (Daniel Sturridge) who doesn’t score enough for his self-understanding or in the public view. He makes this way, out of the box, to take two defenders with him and then it opens everything. It is a sign of development.”

Firmino profited from a quick turnover in possession in the final third and Sturridge’s movement off the ball, allowing the Brazilian to shift inside in the penalty area and fire low past Kasper Schmeichel.

The Reds work tirelessly on their ability to win the ball back from pressure situations, and not for the first time this season they managed to score off winning turning the ball over high up the pitch.

Liverpool host West Bromwich Albion this weekend, and it may prove to be a tricky encounter as the Baggies will be happy to give up possession and will not look to build play from the back.
