Jurgen Klopp admits Liverpool rushed Adam Lallana too soon

Adam Lallana has not played much for Liverpool in the Premier League so far this season.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted to The Telegraph that the club made a mistake regarding Adam Lallana.

Klopp has conceded that Liverpool rushed the 29-year-old England international too soon from his thigh injury earlier this season.

Lallana, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has played just 186 minutes of Premier League football for the Reds so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.

Liverpool manager Klopp has admitted that it was a mistake to rush the Englishman, who has been on the books of the Reds since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Premier League rivals Southampton for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £25 million.

Klopp told The Telegraph: “Life is to learn from your mistakes and we all have to learn. Adam, myself and the medical department – we made this mistake. He looked fit but obviously he was not.

“Maybe two little setbacks, not the biggest setbacks, but in and out, in and out, and that makes no sense. So now we have to build with him. He is coming close.”

Important player

Lallana is a very good attacking player, and the England international will be important for the Reds between now and the end of the season.

With important Premier League and Champions League games coming up for the Reds, the former Southampton star will give manager Klopp a valuable option in attack.
