Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann of the United States looks on after playing against New Zealand during an International Friendly at RFK Stadium on October 11, 2016 in Washington, DC.

Jurgen Klinsmann has thanked Tottenham Hotspur’s official account, after they recognised it was 25 years ago yesterday since the German striker first showed off his famous celebration.

Klinsmann became renowned for his belly slide celebration during his time at Tottenham.

And Klinsmann sent a message to Spurs fans on social media, wishing them luck for the new campaign, after his achievements were recognised by the club’s official Twitter account.

Klinsmann is still hugely popular at Tottenham, after a brilliant spell with the club in the 1990’s.

Klinsmann spent the 1994/95 season with Tottenham and then returned to White Hart Lane on loan in the 1997/98 campaign.

In total the clinical forward scored 38 goals in 68 appearances for Spurs, and still remains one of their finest goalscorers over the Premier League era.

Klinsmann still seems to have a keen eye on Tottenham’s progress even now, and he will be watching on with interest, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side due to face Newcastle United at the weekend.
