U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann has rejected claims from newly appointed Swansea City manager Bob Bradley that he was “jockeying” for his job, when he replaced him to take charge of the national side in 2010.

Bradley stated in his first press conference in English football that Klinsmann was vying for his job during the 2010 World Cup, whilst working as a pundit on television.

But, Klinsmann has hit back at Bradley on Monday when speaking to reporters and is quoted by Goal as stating: “It’s simply not true. I could have taken the job in 2006, I could have taken it in 2010 and then we got together again in 2011 and we figured out a way to make this happen so I was not jockeying anything.”

Goal also report that Klinsmann did in fact turn down the opportunity to take charge of the U.S. following the 2006 and 2010 World Cup’s, when he was sounded out by U.S. soccer president Sunil Gulati.

Bradley took charge of the Swans earlier this month, after leaving French side Le Havre, in what has been a well-travelled managerial career to date.

Having worked in the U.S. for the likes of Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls, he became the national team manager in 2006 and held the position for five years.

After stepping down as U.S. national coach he went on to manage Egypt and then Norwegian outfit Stabaek, before his year in France with Le Havre.
