Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has raved about Junior Firpo, as quoted on Sky Sports.
Bielsa has outlined Firpo’s technical and physical ability and has said that the former Barcelona left-back has a lot of personality.
As reported by Sky Sports, the 24-year-old left-back joined Leeds from Barcelona in the summer transfer window for £13m.
Bielsa told Sky Sports about Firpo: ”Training sessions are not things we should talk about, but yes.
“He is a player with a lot of personality who is technically very adept and physically very gifted.
“Those qualities helped him get a move to Barcelona and no player joins Barcelona unless they have great attributes.”
Good signing for Leeds
Firpo could not make a massive impact at Barcelona, but it is not easy for any left-back to get in the team ahead of Jordi Alba.
After all, Alba is one of the best left-backs on the planet.
As Bielsa points out, Barcelona do not sign a player if he is not good.
The 24-year-old did well during his time at Real Betis, and the Elland Road faithful will hope that the left-back hits the ground running.
Moreover, Leeds needed to sign a specialist left-back.
Ezgjan Alioski, who has now left Leeds, is a winger by trade, but the North Macedonia international was playing as a left-back.
Firpo is a left-back by trade and, on paper at least, he is an upgrade on Alioski.
There is every reason to believe that Firpo will be a big success at Leeds.
