Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium earlier today.

Former Sunderland midfielder Julio Arca has suggested that some of the Black Cats’ current squad simply are not good enough to represent the club.

Sunderland were beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium earlier today, and their performance did little to inspire.

Sunderland had sacked Simon Grayson in midweek, but there was little reaction to the managerial change.

Sunderland fell behind early on when youngster Marcus Tavernier hit the back of the net, and they were unable to get back into the match.

And Arca has now suggested that some of Sunderland’s players are not of the quality required to play at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland’s defeat against Middlesbrough means they have still won just one match all season.

The Black Cats are staring back to back relegations, unless their form dramatically improves.

Sunderland are currently sat at the bottom of the Championship table, with their next managerial appointment crucial for the club’s future.
