Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is in a strong position regarding a new contract and his future, according to ESPN journalist Julien Laurens.
The well-known and well-respected French football journalist has claimed in ESPN this morning that Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and AS Roma are interested in signing Lacazette from Arsenal in the summer of 2021.
The France international striker is out of contract at the Gunners at the end of next season, and, Laurens has said that sources have told him that the 29-year-old is ‘in a strong position, with the player an important figure in the Arsenal dressing room’.
Laurens has added that although Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants the former Lyon star to sign a new contact, talks over fresh terms have yet to get underway.
Arsenal stay?
Lacazette is a very good striker who scores goals and links up well with his attacking teammates on the pitch.
The striker is at the top of his game, and it would make sense for Arsenal to hand him a new deal instead of selling him at the end of the season and then trying to find a suitable replacement.
According to WhoScored, Lacazette has scored 11 goals and provided two assists in 19 Premier League starts and has scored one goal in three Europa League starts for Arsenal so far this season.
