The West Ham United coach also believes it is up to the players to help fix the London Stadium’s atmosphere.

West Ham United coach Julian Dicks has urged them to stick together to turn around their poor start to the season, while speaking to the club’s official website.

The Hammers currently sit third from bottom in the Premier League table after managing just one win in their opening seven games.

The final game before the international break saw them drawing 1-1 at home with newly promoted Middlesbrough.

They required a wonder goal from Dimitri Payet to secure them a point in that game, with the Frenchman dribbling past several players on his way to scoring.

It was not the first time he had saved them and Dicks says they cannot rely on him to continue doing so.

“We have some good individual players but you cannot always rely on the likes of Dimi and Manu to get you the goals,” he told the club’s official website.

“We need to work collectively as a team together. That is the players, management, and the fans. We all need to stick together.”

The former Hammers star has also insisted it is down to the players to help change the current negative atmosphere surrounding the London Stadium.

West Ham moved to their new deluxe home at the beginning of this season but it has been plagued with problems from day one.

Chief among the concerns is the lack of atmosphere, with many fans already pining for their old home of Upton Park.

Finding a solution to that issue is a pressing concern for the club but Dicks believes it is down to the players to solve it.

“I am sure we will see a much better atmosphere when we start winning games and it was the same at Upton Park,” he added.

“The new stadium is a massive ground and it is down to the players to help change that. They need to give the crowd something to cheer about – whether it be a goal or a good tackle, they will get behind you.”
