Former West Ham United and Liverpool defender Dicks believes that he would have been a match for ex-Manchester United star Ronaldo were he playing now.
West Ham United first-team coach Julian Dicks has stated on social networking site Twitter that he would have been able to cope with Cristiano Ronaldo if he were playing now.
Dicks made the comment in response to question posed by one of his Twitter followers.
It is quite a bold comment from Dicks, especially as Real Madrid forward Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world.
The 46-year-old former Liverpool man was a brilliant defender during his days, having made his name at West Ham.
However, many will doubt that Dicks would be able to stop Ronaldo were he playing now.
After all, although the Englishman was a very good tough-tackling defender, he was not one of the best in the world in his prime.
Former Manchester United star Ronaldo is arguably the second best player in the world after Lionel Messi, and even the world’s best defenders have struggled to cope with him.
