The Hammers look set to welcome back a number of integral stars after the international break.
West Ham United coach Julian Dicks has told the club’s official website that it will be a huge relief to be able to welcome key players including Aaron Cresswell back from injury.
The Hammers have suffered a terrible start to the season, winning just one of their first seven Premier League games and sitting in the relegation zone of the table.
Though their problems have been manifold, they have also been rather unlucky when it comes to injury absences for important players.
Cresswell injured his knee ligament during pre-season and is yet to play a single minute of first-team football for the Hammers, whilst £20 million summer signing Andre Ayew was struck down with a thigh injury on his debut which has since ruled him out of action.
The likes of Andy Carroll have also been missing, but with Cresswell confirming this week that he is nearing a return to competitive action, Dicks has expressed his relief as the trio of stars close in on a comeback.
The Hammers coach told the club’s website: “Aaron is a fantastic player and we have missed him. Arthur [Masuaku] did very well when he came into the team and then got injured.
“Aaron has been missed as well and it was great to see him get 50 minutes under his belt in a training ground match. Hopefully he will have no reaction and be in contention for the game against Crystal Palace.
“It helps having your big players back in the team. We have missed Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew and you need them when things are not going well. They can turn a poor game into a good game with a bit of brilliance.”
West Ham fans will be desperate to see those stars return to action as they look for any spark which might kickstart the club’s season.
The Hammers travel to Crystal Palace next weekend when domestic action returns.
