Julian Alvarez may be heading back to the Premier League, with Chelsea among the clubs keeping an eye on him.

It has been suggested that if he does leave Atletico Madrid this summer, his preference would be a move to Barcelona.

Even so, there are indications that Premier League clubs have not been ruled out just yet. In addition to Chelsea, Arsenal have also been linked with the forward.

This season, Alvarez has featured 32 times for Atletico across all competitions. He is under contract until June 2029.

Even though reports have suggested he would prefer Barcelona, there is still a chance Alvarez ends up back in England.

ElDesmarque claims the ex-Manchester City forward is not shutting down the idea of a Premier League move, which could be promising for Chelsea.

The same report suggests that Chelsea have already made enquiries about his situation at Atletico Madrid.

While it has been said that Barcelona is where he would rather go, it sounds like Chelsea are currently the most active in trying to get a deal done for Alvarez.

A move to Stamford Bridge could spell trouble for Liam Delap, who has not managed to make an impression since arriving from Ipswich Town last summer.

Chelsea know they cannot let him slip through their fingers and end up at Arsenal. They are already trailing behind, and missing out on a striker of his quality would only make it harder to close the gap.

Last season, Alvarez found the net 29 times in 57 games. He scored 17 of those in La Liga and another seven during Atletico’s Champions League campaign.

Chelsea need that kind of firepower if they are serious about catching up to Arsenal. Alvarez is exactly the type of player who could make a real difference.
