Liverpool have revealed on their official website that they have signed Bobby Clark from Newcastle United.
The 16-year-old has completed a move to Liverpool following a bit of speculation a little earlier in the summer.
Clark, an attacking midfielder, will join up with the Reds’ academy players for the 2021-22 campaign.
The youngster has represented England at Under-16 level, just like Jude Bellingham.
And the Borussia Dortmund midfielder responded to Clark’s post on Instagram about the Liverpool switch, writing: “Good luck bro” followed by a heart emoji.
Elliott a shining example
It goes without saying that it’ll take a while before we know if Clark can move into the senior squad at some point.
But it can, by the same token, happen quite quickly – just ask Harvey Elliott.
Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham only two years ago, is in contention to start against Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday.
To put that into context, Chelsea are the European champions are Elliott is still only 18 but, after impressing on his Premier League debut under Jurgen Klopp against Burnley last weekend, there’s a real chance he could face Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Elliott is a shining example to academy players at Liverpool, a reminder of what’s possible.
Clark, like Elliott, is a big prospect and Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder wrote earlier this month that his departure would be a ‘big blow‘.
