Jude Bellingham has labelled Arsenal’s number one goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as ‘some guy’ on Instagram after his outing with England at the Qatar World Cup.
Whilst Borussia Dortmund’s teenage star shone on football’s biggest stage and enhanced his reputation ahead of a possible transfer to the Premier League, it was a place on the bench for Ramsdale.
The 24-year-old didn’t earn a single minute out in the Middle East, with Everton’s number one Jordan Pickford the main guy donning the gloves – Newcastle United’s Nick Pope was the other keeper that travelled.
There was some criticism aimed at Pickford for France’s opening goal, legendary keeper Peter Schmeichel felt that he should have done better and saved that effort.
Either way, Ramsdale now returns to domestic action and despite those lack of minutes, he shares on IG that he ‘loved every bit helping and supporting the boys’.
In the comments section, Bellingham told him that he is ‘some guy’, whilst Kalvin Phillips added ‘what a guy’ and his partner, Georgina Irwin added that she is ‘proud’.
RAMSDALE TO CHALLENGE PICKFORD
It’s understandable why Pickford has been England’s number one given the performances he has been putting up since 2018 on the international stage.
Back then, Ramsdale was still trying to make a name for himself at Bournemouth, but for once in a long time, Pickford now has some serious challengers behind him.
If the Arsenal man continues his strong performances on the domestic stage, added with Mikel Arteta’s side possibly winning the Premier League title, then things could become interesting by Euro 2024.
